 Bob Rosand “resting” in preparation for demonstration! Maple blank mounted between center. Blank being rounded with small gouge.
 Lid being separated from box with parting tool. Outside shape of box rough turned, refined and coated with sanding sealer. Forstner bit mounted in tailstock opening inside of box to final depth. Marking spacing for coves.
 Small spindle gouge cutting decorative coves.
 Inside of box opened to final wall thickness using Rosand shallow hollowing tools. (see www.rrosand.com for more information on Bob’s tools, journal articles, etc.) Box parted off waste block, remounted between centers (top opening fitted over tenon cut on waste block).
 Coves completed on bottom.
 Lid remounted on waste block in chuck. Centered and attached with superglue. Tenon and radius turned on inner aspect of lid to fit box top. Lid parted off and remounted on waste block after cutting recess and radius for lid tenon and curved lid bottom. Coves are completed on lid.
 Small hole drilled in lid and twig to mount knob.
 Connector turned in ebony. Completed box
