If anyone had missed the November meeting here are the minutes.
The secretary, Jim Brown, reported that we currently have 66 members who have paid dues in 2009.
A new member joined in November. His name is Al Parry and is an Intermediate woodturner. Take a moment in December to welcome Al to the club. Thanks for joining Al!!!!
Club dues are due by the end of the year. A total of 25 members paid their dues for 2010. Thank you very much!!
Additionally, this is also the time to renew your AAW membership. AAW membership is $48 this year but along with this increase is the addition of two more issues of American Woodturner.
Forty-six members attended the November meeting. All of us enjoyed the excellent information presented by our guest woodturner, Doug Wiedman, on how to add decorative touches on our woodturnings. Doug concentrated his instruction on how to carve on a bowl and the necessary steps needed to get started. I'm sure we will see some trying Doug's carving methods in the months to come.
Our raffle in November contained 13 items from wood blocks to magazines.
Show and Tell had a great turnout. 20 different members presented 41 different items. Turnings from Christmas ornaments to hollow vessels were presented. Thanks everyone for your hard work and outstanding turning capabilities.
Announcements:
Harry expressed thanks to all who attended and helped with the troop pen turning activities held on November 6 and 7. John Schaeffer, the Woodcraft store manager, also expressed his thanks to all the members who participated in the pen turning weekend.
· The next president’s challenge is to turn something that starts with the letter “T.” Some suggestions are tops, treen, toys, tiny, tallest, thin, threaded… Use you imagination and have fun! These objects will be displayed at the January 2010 meeting.
· We will have our annual Christmas gift exchange at the December meeting. This meeting will be on December 8 starting at 7 PM. Give a gift and get a gift. The item should fit in a 6” x 6” x 6” container. This is a fun event and you will probably get to take home something to treasure.
One last announcement !!!!!!!
The Allentown Woodcraft store will be having a "Club Appreciation Day" on December 10 to thank the Woodturners, Carving, and Woodworking clubs that patronize the store all year round. There will be specials that day and food. Come on out for that last minute Christmas gift.

Doug Wiedman gave us a great demo on how he creates these nice pieces.

Doug uses a file to make the coves in the rim of this bowl.
Doug says you can start your grove with a v chisel. Then move on to the file.

More filing, then sanding.

Thank you doug for the demo. Very nice pieces
