This month Tom Buchner is teaching us to how to brush up on our bowl turning skills.
Tom talked about a number of things such as finding wood, wood preparation, tools, and centering.

Tom starts by knocking off all bark, for safety sake. With the blank between centers he begins roughing.

Toms jig tells him if he’s at the correct size for his chuck.
A spindle gouge is used to make tennon. Use this compaired to a parting tool.

This is what bowl turning is all about. Letting them FLY!!!
Tom uses the Ellsworths grind. Nice shear scrape.

Sighting in a bump. Tom says. “Try closing your eyes to feel imperfections.”
Tom would core here, and here.

Chucked on the tennon the cutting begins.
Tom leaves the center in for support.

Rim is to thickness, now comes back for the center.
Getting to the bottom. Sometimes this is tricky. Tom makes it look easy.
Thank you for the demo.
