Bob Klotz Demo

Bob Klotz starts by explaining the different bowl decorations he will show thoughout his demo.
1.Wood plug inlay. 2. Burning, Dremel scoring, and paint. 3. Pyrography with use of wood burning iron.
First he gets the bowl trued up.

1. Holes are drilled in the rim of bowl. Next he uses a pencil sharpener for the inlay of walnut plug. Wood glue is used to plug the hole.
After glue dries a bowl gouge takes off the nubs. Very light cuts used here. Look below for inlay samples.

2. Next this section is burned with use of torch before being scored and painted.  Dremel is used with cut a off wheel to score small nicks in the wood.

Acrylic paint is being wiped on. Then immediatly wiped off so the paint sits in the scored indentations.

Next small leaves are painted on. Then outlined using a wood burning iron.

Here he is showing other techniques of wood burning.                                                Bob signs his pieces using an etching tool.

With a small pen Bob traces out where he had just etched.                                   Example of decorations.
