Jerry Fox demonstrating his pen turning. This year Jerry has turned over 500 pens.
First he rounds the blanks. Then marks and cuts out the shape.

Here he is applying finish. Very nice pen. LVWTs thanks Jerry for his demo.

Andy Derhammer demos finishing with CA glue.
Andy starts by applying the CA but he advises to move quickly before drying. Then sanding is done to smooth any imperfections.
5 to 10 applications are put on to add depth.

Final buffing for that extra shiny finish. Thanks Andy looks good.

Harry Pye talking about the skew chisel. Notice the different ways the scew is used. Always cut with the lower point.
He advices to start slow and use the bevel.
Dont forget your ABCs when using your scew.
Always Be Careful.
Always Be Comfortable.

Here the tool is flipped, still cutting with the lower point. I belive this cut is called the plunge cut, good for wood removal.

Scews are also good for making V cuts. Sonny Jones and his homemade honing jig made from MDF.
Thank you Harry for the informative demo.

White dimond compound is applied. Lathe needs to be running in reverse. Scew is honed in mere seconds.
Sonny says you do not need to go to the grinder all the time.
Just a little honing does the trick. Thanks Sonny.
