                                                                   BUTTON BOTTLE STOPPER

 
Mounting blank between centers.                                                                Drill chuck used to hold large wood worm screw as drive center,
                                                                                                                 screw placed in previously drilled hole.

 
Blank rounded.                                                                                           Stopper shape completed.

 
Stopper embellished with cove, groves and sanded.                                      Handled burning wire used to highlight previously placed groves.

 
Grooves highlighted and final sanding completed.                                          Forstner bit sharpened.

 
Bit placed in tailstock and recess for button created.                                     Recess deepened with detail gouge.

 
Button fit checked, will be attached with epoxy glue after turning completed.   Additional pyrographic enhancement at base.

 
Final sanding, 400 grit and wax applied.                                                       Glue placed into hole for dowel, previously used for screw chuck.

 
Dowel placed through cork and inserted into hole in end of stopper.   Button glued into place with epoxy.
