Woodcraft Demo
JUNE 12, 2003  by Lee Buck

Tom and Mike from Downingtown Woodcraft at 417 Boot Road in Downingtown PA delivered the Jet mini purchased by the club and demonstrated a selection of chucks and the Beal buffing system.
The Nova Compaq chuck costs $85.00, is operated by tommy bars and with adapter plates uses the many jaws made for the other Nova chucks.
The Super Naova is operated with a key wrench and has many jaw sizes.
The Oneway Talon chuck is heavier and bigger than the Compaq, is operated by a key wrench.  It has three jaw sizes and uses different sized inserts for different spindles.

The Oneway Stronghold is a heavy chuck, operated with a key wrench.  It also has three jaw sizes and insets for various spindles.
The Beal buffing system is a series of cotton and flannel buffs, stitched and unstitched, which can be mounted on a motor or a lathe.  The arbor can be mounted on a morse taper or held in a chuck.  Each of the three buffs is designed for one of the buffing compounds, tripoli, white diamond and carnuba wax.  The work piece is held against the spinning wheel.  Buffing wheels are available in two sizes; also available are goblet buffs in two sizes.

Downingtown Woodcrafts phone number is 610-873-5660.
