Joe Seltzer prepares a display table with some of his collection.
Joe Seltzer has been collecting woodturnings for years.  His collection has grown to over 500 pieces!  To have such a large collection you either need to limit the size of your pieces or build a building to house your collection. Joe has an unwritten rule that his pieces need to fit into a 7" cube although he has violated this rule with some of his favorites. Joe looks at both form, balance and type of wood when selecting a piece. He will often purchase a piece from the same artist every year or two. By doing this the evolution process the artist goes through becomes apparent.  Joe's collection consists of pieces from every well known turner out there as well as those that have not yet been discovered.

Joe broght 16 pieces from his collection to display and to let the members handle.  After a short break, Joe finished his discussion with a slide show highlighting about 80 other pieces from his collection.

Thanks to Joe's generosity, the Lehigh Valley Woodturners were able to get a unique perspective from a collector as well as handle some pieces from some of the best known woodturners in the world.
